About Optimus
Optimus Accounting Limited provides a range of accountancy and business advisory solutions to professionals, company and business owners across the North East and Scottish Borders.
Our clients' interests come first and we are committed to building long term relationships and delivering a high standard of service, ensuring that our client's needs and expectations are met.
The company is based at its new office at the Berwick WorkSpace in Berwick Upon Tweed.
How Are We Different?
We believe that annual accounts and tax returns should be the start of our service, and not the end of it.
As proactive accountants we help individuals and businesses save taxes. We are on hand to help resolve problems and to hold regular face to face meetings with our clients, often at their offices or premises.
We understand the importance of taking a wider view of our clients' affairs, which often means looking beyond their main source of income, in order that we can identify practical ways of growing and protecting individual and family wealth.
We work, wherever possible, on a fixed fee basis or within a fixed fee range. Occasionally our work will be charged on an hourly basis. All fees are pre-agreed.
Our People
Patrick Evans FCCA is a qualified accountant and fellow member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Patrick has over twenty years experience in the accountancy and wealth management sectors, and is a Director of the company.
Prior to that, Patrick has worked for Greaves West & Ayre and Dickinson Dees Law Firm in the North East; and KPMG, Kleinwort Benson Private Bank and Stonehage Trust Company in the Channel Islands.
Through his career he has gained a wealth of expertise and experience from working with a wide range of clients, from sole traders and family run businesses, to multinational companies and individuals appearing in the Times Rich List.

Gwen Paton IAB is a qualified bookkeeper and has many years of experience running her own business. She has worked with a range of local businesses, from sole traders to limited companies, and has a wealth of experience with software packages including Sage, Sage Payroll and Quickbooks.
Gwen can also prepare accounts to trial balance stage at year end, and more generally can advise and assist with all aspects of record keeping and basic accounting systems.
